Systemic

Human
Experience

THE

Welcome to our Complex World

Have you noticed how non-linear everything in life is?

From natural ecosystems to human interactions—and especially in
design—we live in a world shaped by cycles, feedback loops, and
interconnected systems. The
Systemic Human Experience is here to
help you navigate this complexity, equipping you with practical
frameworks and the mindset to tackle complex challenges and
elevate your strategy when solving different problems.

Design deals with cloud problems all the time, and these require
adaptive thinking, holistic perspectives, and a deep understanding of
feedback loops to create lasting solutions.

CLOUD PROBLEMS

Cloud problems, on the other
hand, are complex, evolving,
and full of uncertainties.

These are the messy,
interconnected challenges of
life.

CLOCK PROBLEMS

Clock problems are
structured, predictable, and
solvable—like the inner
workings of a clock.

They follow a clear set of rules and are built for step-by-step
solutions.

We’ll teach you to master
both clocks and clouds,
helping you find
sustainable solutions in an
increasingly complex
world.

You’ll learn to see systems clearly, think on your feet, and design
solutions that actually work. As a result, you'll move beyond
simply applying frameworks and become someone who can
confidently tackle any challenge thrown your way.

Your Instructor

Leonor Graça Moura

In this course, you’ll learn to
distinguish between
complicated and complex
problems, uncovering why
complexity is often invisible and
challenging to navigate.

Through systems mapping,
you'll gain the tools to visualize
variables and causal
connections, revealing hidden
patterns and relationships.

Together, we’ll explore how
systemic design drives
meaningful innovation, opening
new pathways for social and
environmental impact.

By the end, you’ll be equipped
with a fresh perspective and
practical skills to create change
and impact in an increasingly
interconnected world.

By the end, you’ll be prepared to identify opportunities for change and navigate complex problems effectively.

What will I gain from it?

The course is organized into eight modules, starting with the basics of
complexity and moving through practical tools like systems mapping,
case studies, and identifying change opportunities, ending with an
exploration of system archetypes.

How is the course
structured?

This course combines both theory and practice. You’ll learn foundational
concepts in systems thinking and complexity and immediately apply
them through exercises, mapping sessions, and a real-world case study.

Is it Theory or Practice?
